Women's Health Physical Therapy

The main aim why we concentrate physiotherapy during pregnancy is to promote education to the mothers to give “fit and healthy” delivery.

During pregnancy ,vaginal pain, incontinence and other similar conditions can be embarrassing. You feel like you might be the only person with this problem so you should just learn to live with it.  A team can help. We'll listen to your needs and develop a treatment plan to help you regain the things you thought were lost.

Pelvic Pain

Our physical therapists evaluate and treat many symptoms of pelvic pain including abdominal pain, groin pain, pain with intercourse, vulvar irritation, difficulty with urination/defecation and bladder pain. Pelvic muscle tension, weakness and poor muscle coordination may cause pelvic pain and may be a result of scar tissue restriction due to surgeries, a history of poor bladder/bowel habits, spine and pelvic joint dysfunction and episiotomy or tears from deliveries. Treatments may include muscle re - education, strengthening and/or relaxation of pelvic floor muscles, postural education, soft tissue massage, lumbosacral alignment through muscle energy techniques, biofeedback and dilator use.

Pre natal Musculoskeletal Dysfunction

Our physical therapists address the musculoskeletal components of pregnancy and postpartum issues, including incontinence, pelvic floor muscle dysfunction and prenatal joint/muscle dysfunction. Weakness, poor muscle coordination, abdominal strength or bladder habits may also contribute to musculoskeletal dysfunction. The therapists can identify muscles, joints and/or nerves contributing to pain and recommend modifications of posture and review proper body mechanics/bowel/bladder habits. Other treatments include soft tissue massage, muscle energy techniques, stretching and core stabilization

After pregnancy exercise are taught to mother that helps to get back the old structure and helps to maintain the body fit and healthy . Back Strengthening , reducing tummy , relieving joint all these are the components focused by our physical Therapist.
